From Technics’ stunning turntable to Bang & Olufsen’s gorgeous headphones, new gadgets are popping up everywhere. Keeping track of all these releases is a tall order, even for dedicated technologists, but following reputable sources and subscribing to newsletters can help keep you up to date on the latest technology trends and advancements. Online forums like Reddit’s r/gadget can also be a rich resource, as users share their experiences with different gadgets and software.
Tech product launches may feel like a regular part of the news cycle, but they’re actually the result of months of coordinated planning and execution. By leveraging live demos, global streaming, and expert commentary, the best launches transform technical specs into an engaging story—one that sets user expectations and shapes industry trends. Whether you’re looking for your next AI-driven robot or neck massager, understanding how gadgets are built and marketed helps us predict where technology is headed.
The core of Gadget is Actions, which allow you to read or write records in your database, or run server-side logic outside the database (e.g. logging requests). To build the same type of backend API with traditional tools and frameworks would take hours or days, but Gadget can have your Action up and running in seconds. And because Gadget is a serverless solution, it’s easily scaled and kept performant.
To create an Action, simply select it from the dropdown menu in your Gadget dashboard, then click “Add Action”. You can then name the Action and choose from two different types: model or global. Model Actions are used to read or update your database, while global Actions run logic that’s independent of your database (e.g. sending a weekly email to all your subscribers with a summary and links to posts from this week). Gadget automatically documents Actions and provides UI-configurable access control settings in the Roles and Permissions page.
